Practice with test data
Updated
Test data is a separate queue for trying things out. Use it to learn the keyboard shortcuts, show a new teammate around, or check an integration before it touches real customers.
Switch to test data
Turn on Test data at the bottom of the sidebar. A banner across the top reminds you that you're looking at test data. Select Back to live data in the banner, or turn the switch off, to return.
The switch only changes what you see in this browser. Teammates stay on whichever data they picked.
Add test tickets
The test queue starts empty. Fill it in either of these ways:
- By hand. While test data is on, press C or select New ticket. Tickets you create go into the test queue.
- From your own app. Create an API key with its mode set to Test. Tickets it creates land in the test queue. See API keys and your in-app contact form.
Email and your help center's contact form always create live tickets.
What's different about test tickets
- Customers never see them.
- Nothing is emailed: not your replies, not the confirmation to the customer, not the new-ticket alerts to your team.
- They don't count toward your plan's monthly ticket limit.
- They stay out of your live views and counts.
Everything else works the same, so you can reply, add notes, assign, tag and resolve exactly as you would for real.
